Delta Glass is engaged in chemistry, that is to say: chemical substances, so-called monomers, are converted into acrylic, transparent plastic windows.
The monomer is stored outside in storage tanks and is delivered by trucks. The monomer is stabilized to prevent spontaneous polymerisation. From the road one can clearly see that during the summer months these tanks are sprayed with water. This prevents the tanks from getting too hot in the sun. At higher temperatures it can happen that after some time the liquid thickens and that can be better prevented.
Reuse of raw materials and energy
Delta Glass is constantly working to improve and optimize the process. The environment is also taken into account. Delta Glass strives for sustainable entrepreneurship. For example, waste materials are reused as much as possible.
Sustainable entrepreneurship also applies to energy. Not only are energy-saving measures applied, the process also looks at improvements that lead to a reduction in energy consumption.
In addition, Delta Glass is participating in the MMAtwo sustainability project, which is subsidized by the EU.
From four to one waste container
We strive to not only look at the products we make, but also to find a destination for waste flows. Waste is food, as Michael Braungart claims, we fully endorse. We therefore do not speak of waste but of residues. This is how we find a destination for all our residuals:
- Rejected sheets from the process are collected in a container and raw material for the plates is made from it by third parties
- Broken glass is placed in a separate container and returned to the glass factory
- We collect paper in a container
- PVC chunks that are released during extrusion are ground and reused
- We make as much use as possible of sustainable pallets that are returned after use.
What remains is the waste bag from the canteen, it does indeed go into that one waste container
Air emission
Delta Glass works with volatile organic compounds. To prevent these organic substances from ending up in the atmosphere, all vapor flows are collected and burned in a catalytic oxidator. This Catalytic Oxidator works completely autonomously without using energy and converts the organic vapors into water and CO2 at only 400 ° C. Thanks to this low temperature, NOx emissions are very limited and we meet all legal requirements with regard to air emissions.
Renewable Energy Communitee (REC-Tholen)
Delta Glass is one of the initiators of setting up a foundation for sustainable entrepreneurship in Tholen. Together with the municipality of Tholen and other entrepreneurs in the area, we are working on establishing an independent energy unit that is self-sufficient in the generation and consumption of energy. More information can be found at www.Rec-tholen.nl.
Safety
Safety is a top priority at Delta Glass. We have our own Company Assistance Organization (BHV). Every year, training courses are provided on location in the field of emergency response, firefighting and first aid. There are also regular exercises with the Tholen fire brigade.
AED
An AED is available at Delta Glass, and there are also several first aiders who can handle the device.
